Mindfulness Meditation - Thursday 23 March 2017

Om
The syllable "om" is first described as all-encompassing mystical entity in the Upanishads. Today, in all Hindu art and all over India and Nepal, 'om' can be seen virtually everywhere, a common sign for Hinduism and its philosophy and theology. Hindus believe that as creation began, the divine, all-encompassing consciousness took the form of the first and original vibration manifesting as sound "OM".

Guided Meditation: Desk Chair Meditation ~ Janice Marturano
Most of us spend a great deal of time sitting behind our desks, or in conference rooms or colleagues’ offices, so having a short practice that helps you relax while at work can be beneficial. Institute for Mindful Leadership Director Janice Marturano leads a guided meditation that you can do at your desk as a way to incorporate a short mindfulness practice into your day.at are present.instituteformindfulleadership.org

Mindfulness Practice
Mindfulness practice couldn't be simpler: pay attention to the breath, and when your attention wanders, return. By following these simple steps, you can get to know yourself up close and personal. The essential meditation is Silence. We are made of sound and silence. Sound is our mind; silence is our being. Sound is our trouble; silence is our liberation. All other meditations are different forms of witnessing, but witnessing is present in every kind of meditation as an essential part. Vipassana Page

Enlightenment ~ Osho
Remember, enlightenment is not somewhere else, neither in space nor in time, it is here-now. And if you hurry too much you will go astray, you will go far away. The whole thing is to slow down -- to slow down so deeply that one day NOTHING moves in you. In that very moment, in that moment of no-movement, you will become enlightened. Particularly for the Western mind speed is an obsession. They think that from the bullock cart they have come to the jet, so why can't speedy methods be developed for enlightenment? If the coffee can be instant, then why can't NIRVANA be instant? But they don't understand, because NIRVANA IS not somewhere else, otherwise it could have been possible to go with speed. It is already the case. You have to come only where you are. You have to be that which you already are. So the faster you go, the further away you will reach -- far away from enlightenment. It is not a question of reaching, it is not a question of arriving -- you have to simply slow down. And that's what the whole teaching of Tao is, and my teaching too.  www.youtube.com/watch
